5 FUN WAYS TO SPOIL YOUR FURBABY ON THEIR BIRTHDAY

Looking for inspiration on how to make your pup feel extra special on their birthday? Well, House Of FurBabies has you covered! No matter if you are looking to do something small, or even something elaborate, we have ideas that could help you give your furry friend a day they will not forget.

#1 HOST AS DOG PAWTY!

You cannot go wrong with throwing your pup a special dog pawty! This pawty can be big or small. Invite some of your closest family and friends (and their furbabies too). Decorate with a fun pawty banner and balloons. Serve special treats or pupcakes. You can even send home "doggie bags" full of treats and goodies for your dogs' best friends. No matter the size, a dog pawty is sure to make your pooch feel loved on his/her special day.

Don't forget to include a dog-friendly cake for the birthday boy/girl. There are many recipes online that include every day baking ingredients, such as whole-wheat flour, eggs, yogurt, and applesauce that are healthy for your dog. You can also throw in shredded carrots and banana pieces for extra flavor. Then frost the cake with something dogs love most - peanut butter! Bake your cake in a bone shaped cake pan for extra fun. And keep in mind, dog-friendly cakes are human-friendly too. (That is IF your furry friend is willing to share!)

#2 GO ON AN ADVENTURE HIKE OR EXPLORE A NEW PLACE.

You do not have to spend money to spoil your pup on their birthday. A lot of dog's love car rides, so take them on a ride along with you somewhere. Just being able to hop in the car with you is a sure fire way to get that tail wagging with excitement! You can visit a dog park and let them run and play with other dogs they have never met. You could go on an adventure walk through the woods and let them explore all the new sights and smells. You could take them to a local lake or beach and let them run and play in the water. The possibilities are endless! Just remember, you are giving them something special just by giving them your time. You have already made them feel happy by simply bringing them along.

#3 SURPRISE THEM WITH A NEW TOY.

Everybody loves to get gifts on their birthday! Dogs are no different. Surprise your pup with a new ball or chew toy, and let them unwrap it themselves. Part of the fun is anticipating what is inside, right?! You could also surprise your furbaby with a ride to your nearest pet store, where they can pick out their very own new toy to bring home. Letting them choose from rows and rows of toys will no doubt be a thrill and put them in a perfect birthday spirit.

#4 SPEND EXTRA TIME PLAYING WITH THEM THAN NORMAL.

Giving your pup extra attention on their birthday will surely bring a smile to their face! Dogs simply enjoy being with their humans. Play games with them like hide and seek, where you hide treats/toys around the house and help them look for them. Play fetch with their favorite ball. (Maybe even one they picked out themselves at the store, or opened as a birthday gift). Giving them extra back scratches and belly rubs is a wonderful way to spoil them too. Just showering them with affection will make them feel loved and important. We want to give our furbabies the best birthday we can, and if the price is simply your time and attention, then that is an excellent way to spend their big day with them!

 #5 MAKE THEM HOMEMADE TREATS.

A fun way to show your doggie some extra love on their birthday is by making them homemade treats. You do not have to be a chef to whip up something that tastes and smells great. A food that is different from their every day norm is sure to get them excited. Just make sure to research what foods are both good and bad for dogs, so you don't accidentally give them something that could be harmful to their health.

A few great treat ideas include: Frozen Pupsicles, Peanut Butter Biscuits, Mini PupCakes, and Doggie Donuts. Bananas, strawberry's, and blueberry's are all good for dogs and add a natural sweetened flavor to treats.  Peanut butter is a fan favorite and should definitely be included too!

We hope you now have a few ideas on how you can spoil your furbaby on their big day. Just remember, it is not about how big of a party you throw, or how much you spend on toys. What is most important is giving your dog a day unlike most others, where they get a little extra attention, and a lot of extra affection. That is is best gift they could ask for!
